"Dr. Rick" Penman is a Carlsbad native and has been serving the dental needs of children for over 20 years. He attended Buena Vista Elementary, Valley Jr. High, and Carlsbad High School. He went on to attend Point Loma Nazarene University on a Cross-Country and Track & Field scholarship. Initially a biology major, he continued his studies at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, where he graduated and continued his training in Pediatric Dentistry. He's also taught Pediatric Dentistry for two years after receiving his pediatric certification.

Dr. Rick has three children – Matthew, Anna, and Maleah. He runs daily and plays soccer weekly. If you really want to get him talking, ask him about palm trees or off roading.

Ms. Amanda is Dr. Rick's right hand – nimbly moving from managing patient appointments to working with a wide range of insurance providers. She also just happens to be an excellent dental assistant who works really well with children.

Outside of the office, Ms. Amanda enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and spending time with her family.
